Laws can outline how women ought to be treated — but enforcing them is another story
Its really interesting, and disappointing, that the gender pay gap and social problems are so persistent even in Iceland. I'll be interested to see what comes out of this strike. I often say that when it comes to feminism, the personal is the political... whatever is happening in our homes, in terms of unequal distribution of labour (physical and emotional) is replicated over and over throughout the country, representing the social fabric. Until we can start addressing it at the household and community level, things won't change.
